H. Jordan Spence, Jr., 83, peacefully passed away on _September 10, 2025. Jordan was born on January 12, 1942 in Lynchburg, Virginia to his Father the late Haywood J. Spence and Mother, Ruth H. Spence. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his Sister, Deloma S. Reed and Grandmother, Josephine S. Wooldridge.
Jordan is survived by his loving Wife, Samantha Spence, sons, Dr. Jeffrey A. Spence (Nancy), Jason T. Spence (Jane) daughters, Teresa Clayton (Steve), Stephanie Banks, and Amy Grant (Dwayne). He is survived by twelve grandchildren, (Branham Banks, a special grandson who has always shown his grandfather much love) and three great-grandchildren. Jordan leaves a special friend of 78 years, retired Sheriff, Michael J. Brown.
Jordan graduated from E. C. Glass High School and continued his education at Central Virginia Community College and Lynchburg College. He was a lifelong optician in Lynchburg. He was a board member of The Virginia State Board of Prescription Opticians and a member of the Lynchburg Breakfast Lions Club where he was President and Lion of the Year. Jordan was Head Usher at Fort Hill Methodist Church for 21 years. He was an Elder at Quaker Memorial Presbyterian Church and he was a life long Mason. He volunteered at Brook Hill Farm with Helping Horses, Helping People.
Jordan and our Family wish to extend our love and heartfelt thanks to Centra Hospice, Sabrina, Nisha, Chaplain Mel Bautista, and Lauren, Hospice Volunteer.
A celebration of Jordan’s Life will be held at a later date for family and friends. Inurnment will be private.
