On April 8, 2026, Gina Lee Spagnoli was freed from her earthly vessel, her once-restless spirit now unrestricted, permanently radiant, and eternally at peace as she moves into a realm where Jesus waits and only unconditional love remains. Born on April 8, 1979, in Royston, Georgia, Gina's life was an endless testament to unconventional interests, uniquely in harmony with nature, moving through life to a rhythm often misunderstood, but distinctively her own.
A devoted wife, Gina, worked faithfully alongside her husband. In addition to supporting the family businesses, Gina’s heart was deeply rooted in providing care, support, and mentorship to the downtrodden, people and animals alike. She was a steady source of encouragement for countless men and women in crisis, offering her time, strength, and resources, as well as understanding, compassion, and kindness without reservation. Gina found purpose, value, and beauty in what others often overlooked, clearly manifested by a home consistently filled over the years with often overlooked black feline companions. She was pre-deceased by her one true heart companion, Bun. She will be deeply missed by Gotti, Rocky, Bella, and Betty.
Gina is survived by her husband, Wayne Hagood; mother, Suzanne Caruso; stepfather, Kenneth Humbert; father, Donald Spagnoli; and her paternal grandmother, Mildred Humbert; her stepchildren, Krysta Robinson (Chase), Lucas Sullivan (MacKenzie), and Zackary Sullivan (Autumn). She also leaves behind her brother, Corey Spagnoli (Rachel); her sister, JoAnne McCalister (Travis); stepsiblings, Steve Humbert (Bianca), Jeffrey Humbert (Jackie), Katie Greer (nee Humbert) (Steve), and Zachary Humbert (Christine), as well as her beloved niece, Breezy (McSqueeze), and nephew Brock. She is survived by multiple aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Almost Home: Animal Rescue & Rehab (Amherst, Virginia) or the SJC Warming Shelter | Shower & Suds (Bedford, Virginia).
A celebration of Gina’s beautiful life will be held on April 25, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Falling Creek Park, located at 1257 County Farm Rd, Bedford, VA 24523. In honor of Gina’s love for the nontraditional, the unordinary, and her determination to always live life “outside of the conventional box,” the family is requesting that attendees wear tie-dye.
