Gene L. Daily

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gene L. Daily, 84, of Lynchburg, Virginia, who passed away on June 20, 2026, surrounded by family. Gene was born on March 1, 1942, in Franklin, Pennsylvania, to Glenn Daily and Nellie Latshaw.

Gene attended Franklin Senior High School, then pursued his education in mechanical engineering at Penn State University where he met the love of his life, Ann Daily. Gene and Ann were married for 63 years.

Gene spent his career as a mechanical engineer, solving problems with precision and care. At home, he was a dedicated husband and devoted father to his children, Greg Daily (Sharon), Dennis Daily (Mary), and Karen Reinhardt (John). He was a proud grandfather to Mallory Griffith (Chance), Scott Daily, Ellie Aldridge (Jamie), Abigail Daily, Caroline Daily, Celia Reinhardt, Quinn Reinhardt and Tyler Reinhardt; and great grandchildren, Laken Griffith, Briggs Burch, Reece Griffith and Ellis Griffith.

In addition to his parents, Gene is preceded in death by his wife, Ann Daily, and sister, Barbara Ward.

Gene’s unwavering love for his family was started with a tradition of an annual family vacation to the beach; which included memories full of love and laughter, playing card games, fishing, and many rounds of golf.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
