Gaynelle Delores Atkinson Crumpton

2 Timothy 4:7

"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my race, I have kept the faith."

After fighting a courageous battle, on Saturday December 20, 2025, Gaynell Delores Atkinson Crumpton earned her wings and went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Gay, as she was affectionally called, was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel O. Atkinson, Jr. and Margaret Pinn Atkinson; four brothers Tommy, Samuel W., Lacy and Robert Atkinson.

Gay was an active member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church until her health started to decline. She joined the church at an early age and took on the role of a Servant Leader as a dedicated member of the Women's Usher board, Women's Fellowship Group, and served as a Deaconess in the Deacon Ministry. Gay possessed a nurturing spirit, and she touched the lives of many, as a nurse who specialized in tuberculosis care.

Her partner in life & love of forty-four years preceded her in death, Deacon James Crumpton, and from that union they were blessed with one son, Jason Crumpton (Lesia); two grandchildren, Tia & Trevon Crumpton(Elizabeth); two step grandchildren, Tiersha Royal (Geoffrey) & L.J. Carter (Lindsey); four greatgrandchildren, Tiana Royal, Geofferson Royal, Ezy Crumpton, and Liah Crumpton. Gay also leaves to cherish her memory four sisters, Betty Wood, Mable Lells, Helen Herndon (Ben), & Nadine Battera; two aunts, Mamie Hewitt & Arneatha Hayes; a host of caring nieces, nephews, cousins, & her church family. Gay was a loyal servant of God, a loving mother, sister, grandmother, auntie, & friend.

During her illness Gay received unwavering loving care from her Hospice Nurse- Pamela Oswal, Hospice CNA- Melissa, Lesia Crumpton, Catoria Paige, and her sisters.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday January 10" at 1:00p.m. at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
