Gayle Baker Couch, 74 of Monroe, Virginia died on Saturday, November 2, 2013, at her home restfully.
Born Wednesday, November 9, 1938 in Summerville, Alabama, Gayle was a daughter of the late James Baker and the late Novie Chun Baker. She was the wife of Winfred Couch, for 55 years.
In addition to her husband, Gayle is survived by two sons, Randy and Phillip Couch, a brother, Hollis Meyers Baker and his wife, Mary, a sister, Annette Norton, and numerous nieces, nephew, and cousins.
Gayle graduated high school in Morgan County, Alabama, and went to a private secretarial college, earning a secretarial degree. Later Gayle attended a college in Nashville, Tennessee, which was part of Vanderbilt University earning a degree as an interior designer. Later in life while living in Boston, Gayle got a Real Estate License.
Gayle worked as an Executive Secretary at various locations around the country, before opening her own business as a professional interior designer. Gayle was a member of Elon Presbyterian Church.
A memorial service will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Elon Presbyterian Church, 2290 Cedar Gate Road, Madison Heights, with the Rev. Mr. Barry Tucker officiating.
