Gary Michael North, 65, of Lynchburg, Va., died Tuesday, February 6, 2018. He was the husband of Linda Brown North for 47 years.
Born Saturday, April 12, 1952 in Bedford, Gary was a son of the late Jeff Franklin North and the late Rosa Dale Parker North.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jeff North, Jr. and a special aunt, Manie Carter.
In addition to his wife, Gary is survived by a daughter, Rhonda Dale North and her companion, Miller Warren; a son, Brian Keith North and his wife, Tabitha; two grandsons, Carter and Parker North; three brothers, Frank, Allen, and Mickey North; and a great nephew, Trevor Long.
Gary loved his family. His love and devotion to his grandchildren was something to be admired. He was an avid golfer. Over his lifetime he participated in numerous sports and was a lifelong fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He was always very competitive in everything he did. He was devoted to the Watch Dog Program at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School. Gary will be remembered for his infectious smile and the fact that he never met a stranger.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 9, 2018 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg. A celebration of Gary’s life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
