IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gary Dillard
January 11, 1959 – August 27, 2026
“A life well lived, a heart well loved, and a memory that will live forever.”
Gary Dillard was born on January 11, 1959, in Lynchburg, Virginia. Gary was a special light in the lives of those blessed to know him. His warm spirit, love for people, and unforgettable personality touched his family, friends, and community.
Gary was tutored by Rev. Carl B. Hutcherson and later worked at Lynchburg Grows, as a receptionist. He truly loved people, and in return, he was loved by everyone who knew him. Gary had a remarkable way of remembering people and making them feel special. His presence brought joy, laughter, and love wherever he went.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Paul Dillard Sr. and Nancy Catherine Williams-Dillard; his brother, Paul Dillard III; his sister, Joyce Brinetta Dillard; his great-nephew, Assum Jefferson; his great-niece, Tamiya Crews; and his devoted cousins, Roselyn Williams and Patricia Williams.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his sisters, Barbara Dillard and Renee Dillard; his brother, Dr. Jesse Smith and his wife, Nadine; his uncle, Jerry Dillard; Wendell Smith; his aunts, Evelyn Smith and Sarah Dillard-Thornhill; his sister-in-law, Judy Scott-Dillard (caregiver); eight nieces and three nephews; a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews; his devoted cousin, Dr. Laverne Tisdale; and many devoted friends.
Gary’s life was a testament to perseverance, love, and the importance of family. Though his earthly journey has ended, the love he gave, the smiles he shared, and the memories he created will remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever treasured.
Rest in Peace, Gary.
