Frederick Arnold
Carroll, Jr
November 6, 1942 – April 16, 2026
Frederick Arnold Carroll Jr., 83, of Hardy, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2026.
He was born on November 6, 1942, in Fort Knox, Kentucky, to Frederick A. Carroll Sr. and Phyllis P. Sweeny.
Rick is survived by his devoted wife, Doll; his children, Kris, Josh, and Ricky; and his brothers, David Carroll and his wife, Barbie, and Alan Carroll and his wife, Donna. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Gabrielle, Sophia, Nicholas, Michael, and Zachary, as well as his great granddaughter, Aurora.
Rick attended Norwich University in Vermont for two years before graduating from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1966. He later earned an MBA in Finance from Webster University. Following his graduation, he joined the United States Army as a Second Lieutenant and served his country faithfully for 26 years, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
A man of deep faith, Rick believed strongly in service to his country and to others. Throughout his life, he was not only a supporter of organizations, but a builder of them, consistently following through with action rather than words. When something needed to be done, he stepped in without hesitation.
He was highly intelligent and deeply curious, reading daily, enjoying crossword puzzles, and continually working to strengthen both his mind and spirit. He lived with purpose and discipline, always striving for growth.
Rick was known for being reliable, dedicated, trustworthy, and loyal. He formed lifelong friendships and stood steadfastly by those he cared about. As a husband, he was attentive and devoted, always ensuring that everything was thoughtfully arranged and cared for.
He will be remembered as a man of action, honest, dependable, and quietly strong, with a sense of humor that brought light to those around him. He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
