Frances "Fran" Ferguson Ferrel

Frances (“Fran”) Ferguson Ferrel, 86, of Lynchburg, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.

Born on August 23, 1939, in Lynchburg, Virginia, Frances was the daughter of the late James Harold Ferguson and Katherine Irene Deaner Ferguson.

Fran dedicated 26 years of service to Babcock & Wilcox, where she worked in Payroll, supporting the company's nuclear power division. She was a faithful member of Timberlake Methodist Church and will be remembered for her kind heart, quiet strength, and unwavering love for her family.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert William Ferrel.

Fran leaves to cherish her memory her loving children, Mary Katherine "Kitty" Bice; Joseph I. "Jay" Taylor III (Tammy); and Susan Renée Taylor. She was a devoted grandmother to Travis Bice of Richmond, Virginia, Skylar R. Taylor of Sandy Level, Virginia, and Kameron Tweedy of Richmond, Virginia. She also cherished her great-grandchildren, Maverick, Ezra, and Henley.

She is also survived by her sister, Verna K. Seckman and her husband, Phil, along with many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her greatly.

Fran will be remembered for the love she shared with her family, the friendships she cultivated throughout her life, and the quiet legacy of kindness she leaves behind. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

The family will scatter her ashes, combined with her late husband’s, Bob, at a later date.
