Beanie Christensen went to be with her Heavenly Father on April 2, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Washington, D.C., on March 7, 1931. In 1950, she married the love of her life, Kenneth Christensen, they spent 72 years in love.
Beanie touched many lives while she was a teacher at The Brown Academy for more than 10 years. She had a love for people and a gift of compassionately helping others.
Beanie was a founding member of Sunset Hills Baptist Church and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She has served as a deaconess, Sunday school teacher, VBS director/teacher, and served on numerous committees. She also attended Greenview Church of God. She was a prayer warrior, devoted daughter of Jesus Christ, and lived a life of service and love.
Beanie also served in the Lynchburg/Central Virginia Emmaus Community as well as Epiphany, at Natural Bridge Correctional Center, and served on the outreach team at the Lynchburg Detention Center.
Beanie is preceded by the love of her life, Kenneth Christensen; her beloved father and mother, Ernest Raymond Dakin, Sr., and Pearl Ramey Dakin; as well as her brother, Ernest Raymond Dakin, Jr.; her sister, Linda Joyce Cordell; and her grandmother, Mae Ward.
She is survived by her children, Kenneth and Carol Christensen, Judy and Terry Trent, Jan and Ronnie Guthrie, and Kristina and Geoffrey May. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was greatly loved by many of her nieces and nephews, as well as her lifelong itty-bitty buddy, Donald R. Powell.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, VA. A Celebration of Life will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 20957 Timberlake Road, Lynchburg, VA, 24502, on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Virginia Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to donate to Greenview Church of God or Calvary Baptist Church.
