With profound love and deep gratitude, the family of Etta Mae Ryan announces her peaceful passing. Born on October 6, 1948, in Miami, Florida, Etta was the cherished daughter of the late Major Colley and Betsy Almond, and was also lovingly raised by her stepmother, the late Lilian Colley. From childhood, she grew into a wise, God‑fearing woman whose strength, sincerity, and warmth shaped her into the remarkable matriarch her family adored.
Etta was known for her radiant smile and unforgettable laugh—both capable of brightening any room. Her wisdom was steady, her love unwavering, and her faith in God the foundation of her life. She taught those around her to stand firm, take no nonsense, and trust God through every season.
Her greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her beloved children Shirley Campbell, Jason Campbell, and Keneeda Campbell; her grandchildren Keturah Campbell and Robert Rickett Jr. (children of Shirley), Jason Campbell Jr. and Khaliyah Campbell (children of Jason), and Raheem Campbell, Najah Campbell, and Anthony Johnson Jr. (children of Keneeda). She was blessed to witness the next generation as well: Aaron, Symphoni, Zion, and Zoe Boston (children of Keturah); Ariel, Kenyan, Kaleb, and Pearl Rickett (children of Robert); Sarayah Campbell (child of Jason); Eliyanah, Giannah, and Natanyah Campbell (children of Raheem); and Tyson Noah (child of Najah).
Etta is also survived by her siblings Claudette, Vanessa, Valerie, and Reggie, and is reunited in eternal rest with her late brothers Major Colley Jr. and Alonzo Colley. Her circle of love extended beyond blood, embracing Keedren Boston, Anthony Johnson, Frank Prince, Doranna Freeman‑Campbell, and Randy, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
To know Etta was to love her. She was the heart of her family—their guide, their comfort, and their strength. Her presence was a blessing, her lessons a gift, and her love an anchor that will continue to hold generations together.
Etta Mae Ryan will forever be remembered as the great matriarch of her family. Her spirit lives on in every life she touched, and her memory will remain in our hearts for all time. We love you forever, Etta. Your light will never fade.
There will be no public services held.
