Ethan Wesley Jones passed away on July 5, 2026, in Bedford, Virginia. He was born on June 24, 1996, in Hartford, Connecticut.
Ethan graduated from the Public Safety Academy in Enfield, Connecticut. His desire to serve others was evident from an early age through his involvement with the Broad Brook Volunteer Fire Department, where he was honored with the Junior Firefighter Award in 2013.
A dedicated and highly skilled diesel mechanic, Ethan earned numerous certifications as a heavy equipment technician, specializing in diesel power systems and natural gas repair and conversions. He began his career with Environmental Services International before spending several years as a mechanic with USA Waste & Recycling in Connecticut. After relocating to Port Royal, South Carolina, he continued his career with Thomas Concrete and Cummins, where his strong work ethic and mechanical expertise earned the respect of those around him. Most recently, Ethan worked for Peterbilt in Bedford, Virginia.
Outside of work, Ethan found his greatest peace in the outdoors. Whether he was hunting in the woods, spending time on the river, or fishing with family and friends off the coast of New Hampshire, he was happiest surrounded by nature and the people he loved. Of all his outdoor passions, striped bass fishing held a special place in his heart.
More than anything, Ethan will be remembered for the life he lived, the friendships he built, and the memories he created with those fortunate enough to know him. His presence, laughter, and unwavering willingness to help others will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
Ethan is survived by his loving parents, Robert and Corin Jones of East Windsor, Connecticut; his brother, Staff Sergeant Avery Jones, USMC; his beloved daughter, Riley Marie Jones; Riley’s mother, Shelby Lee; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends who will carry his memory with them always.
Donations in Ethan’s honor can be made to the Broad Brook Volunteer Fire Department.
