Ernest Lee Johnson

Ernest Johnson, aged 69 of Lynchburg, VA passed away on January 15th, 2026. He is preceded in death by his brother James Anthony Johnson and his sisters Shirley and Sharon Johnson.

Ernest was born on January 19th, 1956 in Baltimore, MD. He attended Baltimore City Public Schools and completed his GED through the Job Corp in Attenborough, IN. He sang for 12 years in a group called “The Saratogas.” He worked at Belvac Production Machinery for more than a decade. He loved traveling, playing softball, and connecting with family and friends. Despite him living in Lynchburg, VA for more than 30 years, he always remained the biggest Baltimore Ravens fan.

Ernest is survived by his mother, Lillie Mae Singleton, wife, Yvonne “Bonnie” Johnson; children, Shannel Kelso, and Trent Johnson; grandson, Shanard Brinkley; great grandchildren, Dominic and Savion Brinkley; siblings, Maryanne Thompson, Lula Snow, John Johnson (Tacoma), Roland Johnson (Sharon), Kenneth Johnson, Karen Salaam, Tammy Johnson, Jeffery Johnson (Shanika), and Jessie Windham (Antinita); and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

A funeral will be held Saturday, January 24, 2026 at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg Chapel at 2:00P.M. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 23, 2026 between the hours of 6:00P.M. until 8:00P.M.
