Ella “Rae" Mallory

Ella “Rae" Mallory, 81, of Madison Heights, Virginia, passed away on July 26, 2026. She was the daughter of the late Walter Robert Mallory and Alice Walker Boyd Mallory.

She was born on December 5, 1944, in Galax, Virginia. Rae was a natural caregiver who spent part of her life caring for others through her work in many different roles. She found happiness in the outdoors and loved gardening and landscaping. Like her mother, she had a natural green thumb and enjoyed spending time with her family.

Rae is survived by her children, Teresa Riley Moore (Jeff) of Appomattox, Virginia, Kathy Riley Dunn (Richard) of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Anita Riley Drinkard of Madison Heights, Virginia; grandchildren, Jeffrey Lee Moore, Jr., Katherine Dunn Copeland (Walter), Patricia Dunn Powell (Nicholas), Richard Edward Dunn, II., Joseph Francis Dunn, III., Charles Andrew Drinkard, Megan Elizabeth Cox (Aubrey), and Royal Lee Drinkard, IV. (Makayla); great-grandchildren, Madison Moore, Harper Moore, Lily Moore, Jeffrey Lee Moore, III., Walter Thomas Copeland, IV., Richard Truman Copeland, Theodore James Copeland, Rita Marie Powell, and Jonathan Andrew Drinkard; sisters, Bettie Jennings, Sharon Mallory, and Jobyna Harlowe; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Rae was preceded in death by her grandson, Brandon Jamerson Moore, and her sister, Anita Mallory Wright.

A memorial service for Rae will be held privately at Old City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations be may to the Madison Heights Rescue Squad.
