Eileen Virginia Riess Murtha, 83, of Lynchburg, died Wednesday, June 29, 2011. She was the loving wife of the late James Edward Murtha.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, May 20, 1928 she was a daughter of the late Andrew Riess and Mabel Burbach Riess. Eileen attended St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Deborah Peterman and husband, Ralph of Lynchburg, Gerilynn M. Greene and husband, Richard of Morristown, NJ; two sisters, Marie Belauskas of Arlington,TX, Carol Reed of Dearpark,NY; one brother, Andrew Riess and wife, Denise of New Hartford,CT; three grandchildren, Kirsten Greene of Morristown,NJ, Ryan Greene of Chicago,IL, Sean Greene of Tucson, AZ; caregiver, Pam.
A Rosary Service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at Tharp Funeral Home with Deacon Gordon Cartwright officiating. The family will receive friends until 9:00 p.m. following the service.
