Edward Mack Almond, Sr., most known as “Opa”, was the son of Elenor Brooks Wright and Edward Almond.
Born March 27, 1936, in Lynchburg, Virginia. On Sunday, March 15, 2026, he went home to be with the Lord, passing peacefully in his sleep.
He was preceded in death by, his mother, father, sister Bonnie Jean Shelton, Brother Donald Lawhorne, and brother Sam Lawhorne.
He is Survived by his beloved wife, Barbara, of just shy of 70 years. His daughter Jody Almond McGann (Gene), Son Mack Almond Jr (Allison). 4 precious Grand Daughters, Jennifer Fitzgerald (Alex), Jacqueline Smith, Jessica Eubank (Cody) and Della Danielle English. And his 13 adored great-grandchildren, Daniel, Oliva, Julie, Genna, Nicholas, Brandon, Amy, Joey, Hannah, Karson, Abigail, Riley and Willow.
He retired from Archer Creek Foundry in 1998 and went to work as the family babysitter. He was known and loved by all.
The service will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2026, officiated by Pastor Michael Turner, at Living Water Ministries, 1071 Waterlick Rd at 3:00 PM with a visitation one hour prior. Graveside will follow the service at Presbyterian Cemetery on Grace St. in Lynchburg.
The Family will then receive guests at the home.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Mack’s honor to Living Water Ministries, 1071 Waterlick Rd. Lynchburg, VA 24501.
