Edna N. Murray, 90, of Amherst, formerly of Bedford, passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Harry Davis Murray.
Born June 18, 1928 in Bedford, VA she was a daughter of the late Henry Grady Nance and Mary Frances Hubbard Nance. Edna retired from the county of Bedford after 24 years of employment. She started out as the Bookkeeper in 1974 and later became the treasurer. She retired in 1991. She was a member of Grace Memorial Baptist Church in Bedford until moving to Amherst where is became a member of Midway Baptist Church.
Edna is preceded in death by brothers: Jack, Glen, Mac, PD, and infant brother Grady Nance; sisters: Grace N. Turner and Mildred N. Wilkerson.
She is survived by her daughter: Frances Myers Harker and husband, Joe; two grandchildren: Matthew Harker and wife, Shannon and Eryn Harker; two sisters: Sue N. Helenihi, Betty Lou N. Layne and husband, Roger; sister in law: Louise H. Nance; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford Chapel conducted by David Harker. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
