Edith Rose Yakubosky, 98, passed away January 21, 2026, at Heritage Green Assisted Living in Lynchburg, Virginia, following a period of declining health. She was the daughter of the late Francis Paul and Julia (nee Vladyka) Paul.

Edith was born April 6, 1927, in Passaic, New Jersey, where she was educated in the public school system, graduating from Passaic High School.

When she was 21 years old, she met the love of her life, the dashing U.S. Army Air Force B-29 flight engineer William Yakubosky. After a whirlwind romance, they married September 4, 1949. Following a honeymoon to the Thousand Islands, Niagara Falls, and Ontario, Canada, they set up housekeeping in Passaic. They spent 64 years together until Bill’s death in 2013.

Bill and Edith welcomed a son, William “Marc” Yakubosky, in 1956.

In 1970, after tiring of city life, the family moved to “the country,” building a hillside home in Wanaque, New Jersey, with expansive views of the Ramapo Mountains.

After retirement, Bill and Edith relocated to Lynchburg, following other friends who had moved to the area. They became members of Grace Memorial Episcopal Church, eagerly throwing themselves into the joy of parish life.

Edith enjoyed crocheting, cruising New York Harbor and the Hudson River in the family boat, family vacations to numerous Civil War historic sites, and cooking for friends and family. Her holiday dinner parties were the stuff of legends.

Edith is survived by her son Marc and wife Luanne of Morrisville, Vermont; step-granddaughter Michele and wife Kelly of South Hero, Vermont; step-grandson Douglas and partner Jack of New Castle, New Hampshire and Dummerston, Vermont; and several nieces throughout New Jersey.

In addition to her parents, Edith was preceded in death by her brother Francis Paul, Jr., a nephew, Francis Paul III, and her husband Bill.

Inurnment in the columbarium at Grace Memorial Episcopal Church will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory in Lynchburg is assisting the family.
