Edgar Grayson Collins, 87, of Lynchburg, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2025. He was the son of the late Grayson C. Collins and Elosie Thackston Collins.
He was born on May 3, 1938, in Manassas, Virginia. He received his early education in Newburn, North Carolina, and Drakes Branch, Virginia, before pursuing and earning a degree in Pharmacy from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
Edgar was a devoted member of Forest United Methodist Church and found great joy in spending time with his family, caring for his beloved dog Sheri, reading about Virginia’s local history, and actively supporting his church community. Deeply committed to his hometown, Edgar founded Forest Pharmacy, Inc. in Forest, Virginia, in 1977, serving the community for more than four decades. He valued building relationships with his customers, meeting their needs, and forming lasting friendships that he treasured throughout his life. Edgar leaves behind a legacy of selflessness, gentleness, and kindness that will be profoundly missed.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sue Collins; his children, Eric Jennings and wife Wendi, James Collins and husband Ryan, and Jonathan Collins; his grandchildren, Meaghan Bartholomew and husband Damien, Kaitlyn Dorr and husband Ryan, and Tyler Jennings and wife Emma; his great-grandchildren, Logan Bartholomew and Wrenley Dorr; his brother, James Frank Collins and wife Dana; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Forest United Methodist Church.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 3:30PM at Tharp Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Alan officiating. A visitation will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025, from 6PM to 8PM at Tharp Funeral Home.
