Edeltraut “Trudy” Christa Baske Phelps

Edeltraut “Trudy” Christa Baske Phelps, 87, of Lynchburg, Va passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2025. She was the loving wife of Delmus Younger Phelps and the daughter of the late Otto Max Baske and Ida Block Baske.

Trudy was born on September 9, 1938, in West Prussia, Germany. She attended school in Landstuhl, Germany, then pursued her career as an Au Pair girl in Ramstein AB Germany to learn English, and perform home and child care.

She was a member of Timberlake Baptist Church and enjoyed reading romance novels cross word puzzles and especially crocheting her grandkids and great grandkids blankets and Christmas Stockings.

She is survived by her children, Delmus Phelps (Veronica), Paul Phelps (Suzanne), Jac Phelps (Betty), and Carlos Louise Brooks (Mark); grandchildren, Daniel D. Phelps (Caitlin Roth), Alexander Phelps (Fernanda), Dr. Benjamin Phelps (Morgan), Stefan Phelps (Sydney), Eleni Silva (Pedro), Kieran Phelps (Gigi Guerrero), Jason Phelps (Missy), Jonathan Phelps (Lizzie), Megan Hollopeter (Aaron), Christa Goulet Campo, Jessica Morcom (Bryce), Joshua Knight (Audrey), Zachary Knight (Asha), Peyton Knight, Nicholas Knight and 25 Great-grandchildren! In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Paul Phelps, and grandchildren, Marcia Jac Phelps and Marlena Alma Hodges.

 A funeral service will be held at Tharp Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at 11:00 am. A visitation will be held one hour prior. Interment will be held at Fort Hill Memorial Park at 2:00 pm.
