Dorothy Dean Moseley, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on February 12, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born to the late James and Sybil Dean, Dorothy grew up with a deep appreciation for creativity, family, and the simple joys of life.
She is survived by her three children—Alice, Willie (Annette), and Anne (Betty)—who will forever carry her strength, humor, and kindness in their hearts. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence “Chuck” Moseley, with whom she shared a lifetime of devotion, as well as her brothers, John Dean and Stanley Dean.
Dorothy was a devoted grandmother to her four grandchildren—Michelle (John), Jennifer (Alex), Elizabeth (Derek), and Bill (Megan)—and a proud great‑grandmother to Drew, Kaylin, Trent, Jordyn, Kelsey, Addie, and Farryn. She is reunited in peace with two great‑grandchildren, Bryson and Garrett, whose memories remained close to her heart.
Dorothy had a gift for crafting and found joy in creating things that brought warmth to others. She loved spending time at the beach, where she felt most at peace, and she was a proud and enthusiastic fan of the Virginia Tech Hokies.
She is also survived by her beloved cat, Nala, who brought her daily comfort and companionship. Nala will now reside with her daughter‑in‑law, Annette, who will continue to care for her with the same love Dorothy did.
Dorothy’s spirit, generosity, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
At Dorothy’s request, there will be no service, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or your favorite pet charity.
Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is serving the family.
