Dorothy Hall Wood, 88 of Bedford, VA passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 11, 2019. She was born to James and Lillian Hall on August 27, 1930. She was preceded in death by her parents, eight siblings and her husband of 31years, Nathan Rucker Wood.
She dedicated 40 years of employment to Bedford Weaving Mill where she retired and remained well loved by her community.
She is survived by three daughters, Vickie “Tori” Thomas and companion Joseph Smith, Darlene Kidd and son in law Larry Kidd and Deanna Bridges and son-in-law Scooter Bridges; Sister Betty Bowling; brother-in-law, Everett Wood, Sr.; six grandkids; 16 great-grandkids and one great-great-granddaughter. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Dot loved bingo and played weekly with her many friends at the Elks Home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Bingo Fund at the English Meadows, Elks Home of Bedford. The family sends special thanks to her doctors, nurses and care staff that went above and beyond to care for her.
The family will receive visitors from 6:00 until 7:30pm, on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Tharp Funeral Home in Bedford. Anyone wanting to visit today Monday, May 13, 2019 can visit at the home after 2:00pm and immediately following the graveside service at 42 Timber Ridge Drive, Forest, VA 24551. A graveside service and celebration of Dorothy’s life will be conducted at 11:00 am, Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Greenwood Cemetery.
