Mrs. Doris Elliott Lovelace, a cherished resident of Lynchburg, Virginia, passed away peacefully into eternal rest while sleeping at her home on the evening of Thursday, November 20, 2025. She was blessed with 86 beautiful years of life.
Born on May 25, 1939, Doris was the beloved daughter of the late Armistead and Josephine Elliott. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 65 years, Henry Lovelace, Sr.; two sisters, Berta Jenkins and Tecora Smith; one brother, Clarence Elliott, and her spoiled fur baby, Shadow.
Doris leaves a rich legacy of love through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children: Henry Jr. (Alveta), Faye Jenkins (Al Jr.), and Cynthia Parrish (Vernon); one goddaughter, Tamara Spradley; six grandchildren: Ameka Cruz (Scott) of Greer, SC, Henry III (Tiffany) of Long Island, NY, Ceadrix Hamlett (Jada) of Chesapeake, VA, Tiana Ellis (Dwayne) of Lynchburg, Vernon Parrish, Jr (Kelsey) of Madison Heights, VA, and Al Jenkins, III of Lynchburg; along with 11 great-grandchildren: Timbre (Matthew), Jeremiah, Caiya, Ceanna, Dwayne III, Dawson, Henry IV, Elizabeth, Tristan, Malik, and Trae; one sister, Virginia Franklin, and a brother, Eric Wayne Elliott (Kim). She will also be deeply missed by her sisters-in-law, Elsie Lovelace and Margaret Jennings, and brother-in-law, Bob Lovelace (Janice); along with a host of nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
Doris retired in 1998 from Ericsson/GE after many years of dedicated service. She was the heart of her family—a devoted and loving matriarch who prioritized time spent with her loved ones. She possessed a vibrant spirit and a refined sense of style, evident in her love of fashion and shopping. Her home reflected her warmth, as she enjoyed decorating and gardening. One of her greatest joys was her annual Christmas Eve gathering, a cherished family tradition she hosted for years that usually always included a memorable after-dinner performance led by her grandchildren.
Above all, Doris was a woman of deep and abiding faith. She was raised in Pilot Mountain Baptist Church of Concord, VA, where she accepted the Lord at an early age. After marrying Henry, she joined St. Paul Baptist Church in Rustburg, VA, before later returning to her original spiritual home, Pilot Mountain Baptist Church. Though illness prevented her from attending regularly in recent years, her membership and faith remained steadfast.
In lieu of flowers, gifts of remembrance can be sent to Pilot Mountain Baptist Church, Concord, VA, or to the Dementia Society of America.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, November 29, 2025 at Pilot Mountain Baptist Church at 12:00P.M. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
