Dolores Ann
Mutchler
Sep 22, 1934 — Oct 21, 2026
Moneta, VA
Dolores Ann Mutchler (Pojé), age 92, of Moneta, VA, was called home to the Lord on October 21, 2026. Dolores passed away peacefully surrounded by her devoted husband of 70 years, Mike Mutchler, her loving caregiver, Kristen Harding, and family.
Dolores was born on September 22, 1934, in Akron, OH, to Edna and John Pojé as the youngest of three daughters. She attended St. Paul Elementary School and St. Vincent High School, where she met her husband, Mike, while she was a majorette and he was a clarinet player in the marching band. Their remarkable 70-year marriage became a beautiful example to their family of enduring love, faith, and devotion, standing by one another through life's joys and challenges, in sickness and in health.
As Mike's job required frequent moves, Dolores made a home for her family in Brookpark, OH; Royal Oak, MI; Parma, OH; Grand Blanc, MI; Rochester, NY; Bloomfield Hills, MI; Marco Island, FL; and Moneta, VA. She embraced each community and parish she called home with warmth and enthusiasm, serving as a leader for a special needs Girl Scout troop, teaching Sunday school, and washing and ironing liturgical altar linens.
Dolores had a gift for making life feel like a celebration. She was most in her element when decorating every room of their homes for themed parties or holidays, especially Christmas. She had a flair for all things colorful and glamorous and was rarely without matching accessories and a little sparkle. Her favorite pastimes were needlework, crafts, ceramics, baking, shopping, antiquing, and playing dominos and card games.
She had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel; she was particularly fond of cruises because she could travel, play slot machines, and shop all at once. Mike and Dolores were blessed to travel extensively across the globe, but Dolores was most content when surrounded by family. As a devoted sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-aunt, and great-grandmother, family was everything to her. She was the heartbeat of the family, remembering every occasion with a card, making every attempt to celebrate the milestones of her children and grandchildren, and serving as the driving force behind various family get-togethers and reunions. She created cherished memories, such as baking and crafting with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Mike; children Jeanne (David) Buhl, Eileen (Angelo) Mazzocco, Alisa (Bart) Bauer, and Bryan (Marcela) Mutchler; 18 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Loretta (Tom) LeFevre and Marlene (Dan) Dunford.
The family will receive visitors on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Resurrection Catholic Church (15353 Moneta Rd, Moneta, VA 24121). A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m., with a reception directly following.
The family will also receive visitors on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. at Saint Hugo of the Hills Chapel (2215 Opdyke Rd, Bloomfield Hills, MI 48304). A Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Rite of Committal at the on-site Columbarium. A reception will follow at a nearby location to be announced.
