Diane
Dunlop
May 24, 1942 — Jun 15, 2026
Diane Marie Dunlop, 84, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026, with her loving family by her side. Born on May 24, 1942, in New Westminster, British Columbia, she was the daughter of H.G. “Floyd” and Madge Warner.
Diane was preceded in death by her husband and best friend of 58 years, Peter Dunlop, whom she met while attending the University of British Columbia. She is survived by her brother, D’Arcy Warner of Vancouver, British Columbia; her children, Dawn Dunlop and Mike (Sarah) Dunlop; and her grandchildren, Connor, Andrew, and Owen Dunlop.
For Di or Grandma Di, as she was known, family was the center of her life and her greatest joy. She and Peter believed in giving the gift of time to their children and grandchildren, cheering them on in life, and always ready with a helping hand and the right tools.
Throughout her life, Diane found joy in life’s simple pleasures: time with loved ones, making someone smile, gardening, a beautiful sky, her walks and ‘talks with God.’ She loved entertaining family and friends and had a way of making everyone feel special—a big hug, a “hello sweet-pea,” or a houseful of chocolate chip cookies. She had a true gift for making ordinary moments feel extraordinary.
After her first career as a full-time mother, Diane spent 30 years with Citigroup retiring as Vice President, Administration in their Manhattan office. While family remained her greatest delight, she found deep professional fulfillment in her years working with sales assistants and brokers and creating opportunities for their success.
Diane touched countless lives with her warmth, strength, encouragement, and love. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, coworker, and friend. We mourn her loss but also celebrate the beautiful life she lived, keeping her memory in our hearts forever.
The family is deeply grateful to the caring staff at Westminster Canterbury and would especially like to thank the Memory Support Center personnel, the beauty salon, and the Canterbury Cafe staff who were so helpful in ensuring Mom’s health, dignity, and her joy.
Mom & Dad went dancing on their first date, and danced through life together. The family takes comfort in knowing they are dancing together once again.
Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg is assisting the family.
