Diamond Mauntell Johnson departed this life Tuesday, February 24, 2026. Born in Lynchburg, VA, she was the daughter of Canieta Withers Mitchell and Duvall Johnson. She was preceded in death by her great grandparents, James Withers, Sr. and Amy Colmore Withers, Walter Vannison and Lillian Beatrice Oglesby Vannison, Helen Revely and Duvall Willis Johnson, and her grandfather James Withers, Jr. She was also preceded in death by three aunts, Veronica Comer, Janice Marshall, and Jennifer Withers, and one uncle Steve Withers.
Diamond was a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church where she served on the Youth Ministry, Young Adult Choir and the Junior Usher Ministry. She was a 2012 graduate of E.C. Glass High School and was employed by Walgreens. Diamond loved playing video games, watching scary movies, and spending time with her daughter Skyrah and the love of her life Nick.
In addition to her parents, Diamond is survived by her loving daughter, Skyrah Arielle Jones, her grandparents Janice Colmore, Bettie Mae Withers, and Leon Colmore, two sisters Keisha Woodson (Andre) and Jia Lowe, three brothers Christopher Withers (Christina), Zachary Watts, and Blake Mullen, two nieces Ayannah Carrington and Holli Merat, one great nephew Yasir Woodson, two aunts Amy Withers and JoAnn Johnson and two uncles James Withers, III and Nathaniel Marshall. She is also survived by the love of her life Nick Shortridge, three special friends Kearia Jones, Jenny Bravo and Hope Irons and host of loving cousins, other relatives and friends.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Star City Rehabilitation and Nursing and Maranda Hash, Amaya Giggetts, Mariah Pannell, Bridget Lam, Johnny Yeary, and Wade Talent.
A celebration of Diamond's life will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.
