It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Derick Hendricks on June 5, 2026, at the age of 48.
Born on September 29, 1977, in Lynchburg, Virginia, Derick was a hardworking and talented metal fabricator who took great pride in his craft. He was known for his dedication, strong work ethic, and his willingness to help others whenever he could.
Derick found happiness in life's simple pleasures. He loved riding his motorcycle, spending time fishing, and making cherished memories during annual beach trips. Whether enjoying the open road, casting a line into the water, or spending time with family and friends by the ocean, Derick embraced life with an adventurous spirit and appreciation for the moments that mattered most.
Above all, Derick was a proud father to his daughter, Trinity Hendricks, who was the light of his life. He is also survived by Kelly Hendricks, with whom he shared many years, memories, and the blessing of their daughter. He is further survived by his loving parents, Henry and Ruth Hendricks; his brother, Jimmy Hendricks; his nephew, Lance Hendricks; and many extended family members and friends whose lives were touched by his kindness, humor, and friendship.
Derick's passing leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will be remembered for his adventurous nature, his love of family, and the many memories he created with those fortunate enough to know him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home in Lynchburg, Virginia. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, celebrate Derick's life, and support one another during this difficult time.
Though his journey ended far too soon, the love he shared and the memories he created will remain forever in the hearts of those who loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Lynchburg Out of the Darkness Walk in Derick's memory. By supporting suicide prevention and mental health awareness, we hope to honor his life and help bring hope and support to others in need.
Forever loved, deeply missed, and never forgotten.
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."
