Curtis Harris McLane, 79, of Lynchburg, died Wednesday, January 19, 2011. He was the husband of Barbara Padgett McLane for 58 wonderful years.
Mr. McLane was born Wednesday, December 22, 1931 in Lynchburg, a son of the late Joseph McLane and Suzie Bell McLane Stanley. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He owned and operated McLane Cabinet Shop for 20 years. He was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Steve McLane and wife, Katrina, Lynchburg; his grandchildren, Jeffery McLane and wife, Ashtan, Lynchburg, and Christopher McLane and fiancée, Chelsea Conrad, Charlotte, NC; a brother, Edward McLane, Richmond, and a sister, Merle Hargis, Lynchburg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Herman McLane, and two sisters, Eva Brown and Madelene Norberg.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A celebration of Curtis's life will follow at 11:00 AM with Pastor Jonathan Falwell officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 16.
