In Loving Memory of Craig Allen King, Sr.
A life defined by warmth, loyalty, and love
This tribute is accompanied by a photo of Craig — a reminder of his gentle smile, his comforting presence, and the deep affection he carried for the people he loved.
Craig Allen King, Sr., 66, of Forest, Virginia, passed away on July 5, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, loyalty, and deep love. To know Craig was to feel the warmth of his presence — gentle, steady, and always rooted in family.
Craig cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. Family gatherings, birthdays, graduations, and beach trips were among his happiest memories. Even as his health declined, he remained determined to be present for the moments that mattered most.
He found comfort in life’s simple rituals, especially sitting with his morning coffee. Craig treasured the many adventures he shared with his wife, Jodi Pollard King — trips to Seattle, cruises, and visits to Key West — each one held close to his heart. He also loved fishing, embracing the quiet and patience it brought.
Before retiring from The News & Advance, Craig took great pride in helping to print the daily paper. His dedication, work ethic, and attention to detail were evident in every shift.
🌿 Service & Military Pride
Craig was deeply proud to have served in the United States Marine Corps from 1977 to 1983, carrying the values of honor, courage, and commitment throughout his life. “Semper Fidelis” was more than a motto — it was the way he lived. And for those who knew him best, they are certain that one final “Oorah” was heard as he passed, a fitting farewell for a Marine who served with pride and heart.
🌿 Craig’s Personality & Passions
Craig’s personality was defined by a deep warmth that everyone around him felt. His unforgettable bear hugs wrapped you in comfort, making you feel safe, loved, and understood without a single word spoken.
He carried that same warmth into the things he loved. Craig was a devoted Liberty University Football fan and proudly enjoyed being a Flames Club member before his health declined. At home, he was the ultimate “Maine Cabin Masters” fan, never missing an episode and finding joy in its blend of craftsmanship, humor, and heart.
Whether cheering for his favorite team, relaxing with his favorite show, or sharing one of his signature hugs, Craig expressed love in ways that were simple, genuine, and deeply felt.
🌿 Family
Craig’s greatest legacy lives on through his family:
He was a proud grandfather to Zachariah, Madelyn, Micah, Dallas, Jaicah, Genesis, and Amelia, and he adored his grand‑pups, Luna and Sora, who brought him endless joy.
Craig is survived by his sister, Debra King of Lynchburg, VA, and his step‑sister, Susan Lanier of Jupiter, FL. He is also survived by his uncle, Gary King of Florida, and his cousins, Tasha Cram and Kimberly King Wise.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert Craig King Jr. and Donna Jean Aikins, whose memory remained a guiding presence throughout his life.
Closest to his heart was his “little man,” Mumford, who provided him with unwavering love and comfort for 13 years.
🌿 Service Information
At this time, no service is planned. Craig’s family will honor his life in their own meaningful ways.
