Coribel “Jean” Smith Graham died peacefully in her sleep February 21, 2019. Born December 21, 1921, in Winchester, Indiana to Harry A. And Cora B. Smith who preceded her in death as well as her five siblings, Ruth Elizabeth Rowles (Doug), Roger Allen Smith, Harry Anderson Smith, Jr. (Maurine), J. Quentin Smith ( Ruth) and J. Bernard Smith (Eve) and her great niece, Diana A. Smith and her former husband, George Alford. Graham, Jr.
She was the loving mother to Taryn Smith Thomas and grandmother to Kyler Smith Thomas whom she cherished.
Jean was a longtime member of Irvington Presbyterian Church, Irvington NY where she was a Deacon and in the choir. Later moving to Lynchburg, Virginia where she enjoyed the Blue Ridge Mountains, was a duplicate bridge player and a member of the D.A.R, James River Chapter and Lynchburg Woman’s Club. Jean is survived by her daughter, Taryn (Mark) of Concord VA, grandson, Kyler of Lynchburg, VA, niece Judith Smith Tolley and her son Scott of Indianapolis, IN, her nephews Douglas (Sheryl) and Jeffrey Smith of Ft. Wayne, IN, nephew Randall D. Smith, former son-in-law, Frank M. Thomas of Madison Heights, VA and dear friend Nancy Sorenson. Jean was thankful for everyday of her life and the care she received while living at Bentley Commons and her many friends there. A family gathering will take place in her hometown at a later date.
