Claudette Marie Austin

Claudette Marie Austin, 68, of Lynchburg, passed away on Friday, April 11, 2025.

Claudette graduated from Jefferson Forest High School. She later proceeded to get her CDL and continued on to be a dedicated bus driver to Lynchburg City Schools for many years, before retiring from Greater Lynchburg Transit Company. She enjoyed baking, crocheting, and most of all spending time with her beloved family.

She is survived by her two children, Damien Sheppard (Dione) of Lynchburg, VA, and Tiffany Williamson (Tyshawn) of Louisa VA; a brother, Blair Woods of Baltimore MD; a sister, Margaret Walfula (Moses) of Greensboro NC; five grandchildren; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces ,cousins, and friends; and dear friends (cousins) Kim Snead and Yvette Austin.

The family would like to express our sincerest appreciation to Dr. Le, oncologist at UVA, Suncrest Hospice, with a special thank you to visiting nurse Jenifer RN, Kathrine MSW, Judith HHA, and Compassus Community Hospice House.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at St. James CME Church. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 18, 2025, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. Interment will be at St. Paul Baptist Church, Forest.
