Charles Emil Johnson, 90, of Lynchburg, died Wednesday, April 28, 2010. He was the husband of the late Margaret E. Long Johnson for 56 years.
Charles was born Thursday, March 4, 1920 in Detroit, MI, a son of the late Emil Johnson and Anna Michels Johnson. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy during World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He was retired from the Navy at the rank of Commander after 34 years of service.
He is survived by his children, Suzanne Margaret Quinta and husband, Thomas, of Robertsbridge, England, Robin Johnson-Ross, of Washington, DC, Charles C. Johnson and wife, Ann, of Abingdon, Nancy Allen and husband, Daniel, of Lynchburg, and Eric A. Johnson and wife, Audrey, of Hong Kong, China; 13 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Inurnment will be held in Arlington National Cemetery Wednesday, September 8, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. with full military honors.
