Cathryn Jones Norcross

Cathryn "Kitty" Jones Norcross, 86, of Lynchburg, VA, departed this life on October 12, 2026, at Guggenheimer Health & Rehab Center. Kitty was born June 23, 1940, at Allegany Hospital in Cumberland, Maryland, to the late John A. Jones, Jr. and Maude Frances "Mitzie" Sutherland Jones.

Kitty was preceded in death by her parents, John A. Jones, Jr. and Maude Frances "Mitzie" Sutherland Jones; her daughter, Julie Jones Rausch (1996); her husband, Bob Norcross (2021); her brother, Fred Jones; and her sisters, Nancy Pietsch and Sheri Vaughan.

She is survived by her son, Steven Jones, and his wife, Vickie, and their children, John and Sarah; her brother, Gary Jones, his wife, Nancy, and their daughters, Jessica and Mindy, and their families; her son-in-law, Bill Rausch; her grandsons, Billy and Michael Rausch, and their children; and several beloved nieces and nephews, including Mitzie Kennedy (daughter of the late Nancy Pietsch) and Rhonda (daughter of the late Fred Jones), and their families and Bob's children Robert Norcross, Tammy Moore and John Peters and their families.

Kitty was, quite simply, unforgettable. She was strikingly beautiful and famous among everyone who knew her for her impeccable style — never a piece out of place, always coordinated from head to toe. She had a quick wit and an easy laugh. Kitty will be remembered for her humor, her elegance, her fierce love for her family, and her unshakeable belief that the world was full of wonder.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Guggenheimer for their care of Kitty. No service is planned at this time. Her wishes were to spend eternity at sea so her ashes will be scattered with Bob's at sea at a later date.

Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
