Carson Rudolph Elkins

Carson Rudolph “Punkin” Elkins, 58 of Bedford passed away on January 2, 2026, at Bedford Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Bedford, VA on March 9, 1967. A son of the late, Robert E. Elkins and Mary Betty Wilson. In addition to his parents, Punkin was predeceased by his two brothers, Bobby Elkins and Buddy Lee Elkins.

Punkin is survived by his significant other, Julia Brunk; son, Richard Carson Elkins; brother, Douglas Wayne Elkins; four sisters, Gail Lee, Shirley Boggs, Shelia Dawson and Becky Overstreet. Also surviving is his special four-legged friend PUP and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service and celebration of Punkin’s life will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, January 7, 2025, at Tharp Funeral Chapel in Bedford, with Pastor Earl Ragland officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service starting at 12:00 noon. Burial will follow in the Phillips Family Cemetery.
