Carolyne E. West Vedder, 87, of Lynchburg, Virginia, passed away on March 18, 2026.

She was the daughter of the late Francis C. West and Edith A. Ouackenbush West.

Carolyne was born on December 14, 1938, in Patterson, New Jersey. She moved to Kingston, New York at the young age of 6. She worked in retail until she married Richard A. Alexander in 1961. After starting their family, she began a career at Hercules Powder Company in Port Ewen, NY.

Carolyne was a member of Tree of Life Pentecostal Holiness Church in Lynchburg, VA and enjoyed singing for the LORD in the choir in the early years of her membership. She loved being part of the Senior's Group at Thomas Road Baptist Church where she developed lasting friendships. Her favorite thing to do was spending time with her family. Whether it was going places or playing with her grandchildren, she loved being active.

Carolyne is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Alexander Bradley (Gregory) and Elaine-Sue Alexander Riley. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Sara N. Bradley, Mark G. Bradley (Brayden), and Zachary M. Riley. She was also loved by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Carolyne is preceded in death by all of her siblings, Francis West (Patricia), John West (Joan), George West. and Edith A. West.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Raspberry Hill Adult Daycare that supported her in her later years.

A Family & Friends visitation will be held on April 3, 2026, from 6 pm - 8 pm at Tharp Funeral Home in Lynchburg, VA.
