Carol Duff Luther, 83, of Amherst, formerly of Lynchburg, passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2025. She was the wife of the late Lee Roy Luther, Sr., for over 42 years.
Carol was born in Lynchburg on November 5, 1941, and was the daughter of the late Elwood Lawrence Duff and Margaret Wood Duff. Carol worked as a cashier for Kroger for many years, but more importantly was a devoted homemaker to her family and was affectionately known as “NaNa Carol” or “MeMe” to many children. Carol loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and she loved her family and all those that came into her life. She loved being with her family, but she was looking forward to the day to be in the presence of her Savior and with her true love Lee Roy.
She is survived by her children: Lee Roy Luther, Jr. and his wife Shirley, George Paul Drinkard, III, and his wife Bonnie, Tina Jefferson and her husband Franklin, and Stephen Luther and his wife Sarah, seven grandchildren: Seneca Luther and his wife Nicole, Brandon Jefferson, Madison Holmes and her husband Dakota, Austin Luther, Emma Luther, Kim Glass and her husband Todd, and Dylan Tyree, one great-grandchild, Arin Luther, and one brother Lawrence Edward Duff “Sammy” and his wife Bonnie.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg, and all other times at her son Stephen’s residence.
