Carol Ann Cygan

Carol Cygan, affectionately known as "Kitty," passed away on May 11, 2026, at Lynchburg General Hospital. Full of life, humor, and love, she carried a joyful spirit that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. Throughout her 77 years, Kitty shared laughter, warmth, and countless memories with the many people who came to cherish her.

She delighted in dancing, spending time outdoors, and playfully sticking her tongue out—a small, lighthearted gesture that never failed to bring a smile to those around her. Though she did not have immediate family, Kitty built a family through the people who cared for her.

She was deeply loved by those at Central Virginia Training Center, Wall Residences, and by her Guardians, each of whom ensured she lived a life filled with dignity, affection, and connection.

Kitty's joyful presence, her humor, and the light she carried will be remembered always. Her community-her chosen family-will forever hold her warmth and spirit close to their hearts.

A Graveside Service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Bedford, Virginia on Monday, May 18, 2026, at 2:00PM with Pastor Duane Gregory officiating.
