Carl William “CW” Miller Jr. (70), a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away on the morning of October 8, 2026 surrounded by his family after a long battle with chronic illnesses.
Born to Carl William Miller and Lily Brown Miller in Lynchburg, VA as an only child. He attended EC Glass High School, graduating class of 1974. CW shared just days shy of 52 years of marriage with his loving wife, Leslie Miller. They built their lives together and created a family they were proud of.
Anyone who knew CW knew he had a nickname for just about everyone. It was one of the things that made him uniquely himself. He had a way of making people memorable in his own way, and those nicknames will undoubtedly continue to bring smiles to the faces of the people who knew him.
In his young adult years, CW enjoyed playing softball, spending time on the field both as a player and behind the plate as an umpire. He also enjoyed fishing, watching any sports and westerns, riding the parkway, maintaining his lawn, and collecting knives. He was a dog lover always having a companion at his side. He worked at Lynchburg Foundry for 15 years and Wayne Kidd Roofing.
CW leaves behind his special wife of 51 years, Leslie Miller; his daughter, Jennifer Miller (Skip McCauley); his granddaughters, Alexis Snider (Jacob Booth), Parker Morrison (Brennan Abbott), and Livi Morrison; dog Sadie; and dear friends Doug Pribble and Scott Morrison.
Though his passing leaves an immeasurable space in the hearts of his loved ones, CW leaves behind pieces of himself that will never be forgotten. CW will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by the family and friends he held close.
The family would like to sincerely thank all of the doctors, nurses, and medical staff for their wonderful care of CW at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital Medical Intensive Care Unit during his final days.
