Bonnie Jo Libby (née Gauksheim), age 81, of Lynchburg, Virginia, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 26, 2026.
Bonnie was born on August 4, 1944, in Cottonwood, Idaho, to Alvin Joseph Gauksheim and Marion Jean Swartz. A woman of deep faith, she lived her life guided by her love for God, her family, and those she served through music and friendship. Bonnie proudly served her country as a United States Navy veteran, reflecting her strength, dedication, and sense of service.
Bonnie had a special gift for teaching and spent many years sharing her love of music as a piano teacher, nurturing not only musical skill but confidence and joy in her students.
While she enjoyed traveling, teaching, and building lifelong friendships, Bonnie considered her greatest accomplishments to be her roles as a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished grandmother. Her family was the center of her world, and she poured her heart into nurturing and encouraging those she loved.
Bonnie lived life fully and adventurously alongside her beloved husband, Dennis James Libby, with whom she shared countless memories. Together, they traveled by motorcycle through all 48 continental United States and every province in Canada, experiences she treasured deeply.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dennis, and her parents, Alvin Joseph Gauksheim and Marion Jean Swartz.
She is survived by her three children: Douglas James Libby, of Washington; Barbara Jean Sholler, of Utah; and Bobbie Jo Johnson, of Virginia.
She is also survived by six grandchildren and three great‑grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy and pride.
Bonnie will be lovingly remembered for her steadfast faith, generous heart, musical talents, service to her country, and deep devotion to family.
For those who would like to attend a celebration of Bonnie’s life on May 14, 2026, it will be at the Overlook in Riverside Park, Lynchburg, VA at 9:30 AM.
