Betty Rae Evans, 81, of Lynchburg, died Sunday, August 25, 2013. She was the wife of the late Geary Wayne Evans for 41 years.
Born Thursday, October 01, 1931 in Norfolk, VA, Betty was the daughter of the late Ellis Edwards Strickland and the late Sadie Rae Strickland.
Betty is survived by her daughters: Linda Allison, of Evington, and Cindy Dolan and her husband, Joe, of Lynchburg; three granddaughters: Erika Wood, of Forest, Elizabeth Copes and her husband, William, of Lynch Station, and Erin Dolan, of Waynesboro; and two great grandchildren: Sadie Dolan and Joey Copes.
Betty loved knitting and enjoyed spending time on the Outer Banks. She was faithful to her church, Timberlake United Methodist Church, where she was recently honored for 45 years of service.
A celebration of Betty's life will be held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Timberlake United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lynne Alley-Grant, and the Rev. C. Douglas Pillow officiating. The family will receive friends following the service and at other times at Betty\"™s home.
