Betty Mann Hale, 82, of Lynchburg, Virginia, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2026, at home with loved ones by her side. She was the loving wife of William Hale of sixty-two years.
Born in Appomattox, Virginia, on October 23, 1943, Betty graduated from Appomattox High School in 1961. After a few years in the workforce, she settled down to care for her husband, daughters, grandchildren, and many cats. Betty loved peppermint mochas, shopping, word finds, spending time outside, sewing, sitting on her carport, and reading her Bible. She was an active member of Flat Creek Baptist Church for forty-five years, volunteering to work with the children in the nursery every Sunday.
Betty is survived by her husband, William Whitley Hale; daughters, Sherri Estes and husband Scott, Tanya Daly and husband Ron; four grandchildren, Nathaniel Estes, Aaron Estes, Brianna Daly, and Ryan Daly; and her brothers, Bradley and Bill Mann.
She is preceded in death by her father, Julian Mann; mother, Bernice Mann; brother, Harold Mann; and sister, Mary “Cat” Catherine Tyree.
A funeral service will take place at Flat Creek Baptist Church, 14368 Wards Rd, Lynchburg, VA 24502, on June 18, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior. Interment follows at Virginia Memorial Park.
