Benny Dale Dean, 60, of Bedford died unexpectedly Saturday, January 18, 2014. He was born August 18, 1953, in Bedford a son of the late Lester Thomas Dean and Edna Melva Overstreet Dean. Benny owned and operated Deans Plumbing. In addition to his parents, Benny was preceded in death by an infant brother, Cecil Wade Dean and his nephew, Chip Dean.
Benny will be remembered for his warm friendships and consistent willingness to help those needing his skills. As well as being a fun loving guy and having a great sense of humor, he wore his heart on his sleeve and would turn around and give you that sleeve.
Benny is survived by his wife of 13 years, Amy J. Dean; two sons, Christopher S. Dean and his wife, Rebekah of Chesapeake and Aaron F. Dean of Bedford; a step-son, Christopher C. Hailey of London, England; a brother Barney E. Dean and his wife, Donna of Bent Mountain; and three grandchildren, Taylor, Gavin and Daya Dean.
A celebration of Benny\"™s life will be conducted at 11 AM, Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Tharp Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth E. Burger and Rev. William H. Moore officiating. A reception will follow at Benny\"™s home on Reserview St. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM, Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at Tharp Funeral Home.
