Barbara Lockhart Teates

Barbara Lockhart Teates, 75, of Lynchburg, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 20, 2025. Born on May 28, 1950, in Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Coddie Lockhart and Virginia Reynolds.

Barbara devoted her life to her family and to her faith. A lifelong homemaker, she was a member of Forest Presbyterian Church, where she nurtured her spiritual life and friendships.

She is survived by her loving son, Eric Bierlein and his wife Katie; eight grandchildren, Kyle Bierlein, Madison Bierlein, McKinlea Bierlein, Lynnon Bierlein, Grayson Bierlein, Hunter Bierlein, Savannah Tollar, and Luke Tollar; and two great-grandchildren. Barbara is also survived by her sisters, Susan “Susie” Keiter and Diane Lockhart.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Heidi Bierlein Tollar.

Barbara will be remembered for her kind heart, devotion to her family, and the lasting love she shared with those closest to her.

A funeral service will be held at Tharp Funeral Home Chapel in Lynchburg at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 30, 2025, with the Rev, Dr. Elizabeth Broschart officiating. Interment to follow in Meade Cemetery in Madison Heights.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Forest Presbyterian Church.
