Barbara Ellen Durham

Barbara Ellen Durham, 85, passed away on September 3, 2026, in Lynchburg, VA. Born October 5, 1940, in Abingdon, VA, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Riley Traner Clark and Bessie Lee Gillespie Clark.

An adventurous soul who loved to "GO". Barbara shared stories of working at the Pentagon, C&P, and the Shade Shop to name a few, before retiring proudly as the owner of her own cleaning business. She lived life to the fullest, enjoying horse races, casinos, and beach trips with her late husband, Ronald "Ronnie" Durham, and their rescue Greyhound, Freckles. Her family finds comfort knowing she can now move freely and breathe easy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronnie; sisters, Sherline "Shirt" Vanover and Thresia "Tris" Warner; granddaughter, Dalas Marie Carrico; and grandson, Frederick "Jimmy" James Carrico and other loved ones.

She is survived by daughters Kathleena Carrico and Selina Case (John); grandchildren Franklin Carrico, Johannah Carrico, and Rachael Burford (Teon); great-grandchildren Aliyah, Taveon, Kevin, Madeline and Natalie. Several cherished siblings, her best friend and sister Isabelle "Izzy" Wood, siblings Riley "Sonny" Clark, Melvin Clark, Joe Clark, Angie Blevins, Michelle Eagle.

Per her wishes, there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude in honor of her granddaughter Dalas Marie, who bravely fought an aggressive form of Neuroblastoma.
