Audrey Tyree, 79, of Lynchburg died October 27, 2018.
Audrey was a 1959 honor roll graduate of E. C. Glass High School and was in the top 10% of her class. She was a graduate of National Trust School at Northwestern University. She worked for First Colony Life Insurance, Fidelity National Bank, Crestar Bank, First American Bank and Suntrust. She was the co-founder of Peninsula Women’s Network where she received career achievement awards for significant career advancements in the banking. Audrey was a board member of the Sarah Bonwell Hudgins Center for the Mentally Handicapped.
She started a small business in 2008, “Audrey C. Tyree, CTFA,” to administer trusts and estates. In total, she spent 47 years in banking, beginning as a file clerk and retiring as Vice President.
She is predeceased by her husband Lyle Thomas Tyree, a son, Keith E. Tyree and her parents, Ocie and Allen Carson. She is survived by her brother Tom A. Carson (Kathy), a niece Bethanne Marr (Jon), a nephew Brett Carson (Sallie) and grandchildren Sara L. Doyle (Richard), and Keith T. E. Tyree (fiancé Jessica).
Graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Concord Cemetery on Phoebe Pond Road, Concord, Va.
Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
