Antonio Poindexter

Antonio Poindexter, 60, of Grottoes, Virginia, departed this life Friday, July 24, 2026, at the Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, Virginia. He was the son of the late George Robert Poindexter, Jr., and Alease Smith Poindexter.

Antonio was born April 26, 1966, in Washington, DC, to George Robert Poindexter, Jr., and Alease Smith Poindexter.

He loved being around his family and friends. One of his favorite pastimes was watching car racing and wrestling on TV.

Tony worked on different jobsites as a Painter after relocating to Grottoes, Virginia from Woodbridge, Virginia.

Tony is survived by his siblings, Royal “Happy” Flether (Deceased), Kathleen E. Morse-Briggs (Nathaniel) Arrington, Daniel L. “Danny” Morse, Arrington, Denise A. Poindexter-Williams, Maryland, Tawanna P. Cason -Pastor Cason (Anthony)Maryland, James L. McCarthy, (Vernice), Richmond, Keith E. McCarthy (Mitzi), Ashland, George R. “Buddy” Poindexter ((Deceased) (Darlene)Jerry Poindexter, Charles Poindexter (Patricia), Gary Poindexter (Deceased) (Diana); a host of nieces and nephews; and many other loving family members and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday August 01, 2026, at 11:00 am at New Mount Baptist Church, 370 Phoenix Road, Arrington, Virginia. Rev. Aaron Wade, officiating and Minister Brenda Brown, Pastor (Eulogy). A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Memorial Garden Cemetery, Arrington, Virginia.
