Annie Marie “PeeWee” Mays, 77, of Lynchburg, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2026 at Forest Health & Rehab. She was born in Bedford on May 10, 1949 to the late Joseph Napoleon Mays and Margaret Burge Mays. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Marvin J. Puckett and brothers, James. E. Mays and John Mays.

Annie was a devout Christian and was one of the sweetest people you would have ever met. She never met a stranger and made everyone feel special. Annie loved to play cards, horseshoes and collect Angels. Above all, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

She is survived by her grandchildren, Tony Puckett (Amber), Jessica Puckett (Dylan) and Brittany Amos (Matthew); great-grandchildren, Lauren, Charlotte and Denver; daughter-in-law, Melynda Cassidy; sisters, Etna Louise Cole and Doris Phelps and sister-in-law, Geraldine Mays as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 1, 2026, at Tharp Funeral Chapel, Bedford. Burial to follow at Virginia Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
