Andrew Jackson Hollinsworth, Jr., of Forest, passed away on June 19, 2012 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Janet Hollinsworth, his loving wife for 50 years.
A.J was born September 11, 1936 in Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents, A.J Hollinsworth, Sr. and Velma Willis Hollinsworth.
In addition to his wife, A.J is survived by a son Charles Hollinsworth and his wife, Tina of Tennessee; two sisters-in-law; Joy Steele of Madison Heights and Gloria Carpenter of Lynchburg; three grandchildren; Caitlin, Andrew and Cory of Tennessee; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A.J was President of the Nashville Chapter of American Society of Civil Engineers, Nashville Chapter American Public Works Association and also the Nashville Chapter of Tennessee Municipal League. He was a Communicant of Cathedral of the Incarnation Catholic Church where he also served in numerous other committees.
A.J was a very talented person who loved working on different household projects and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone. He was a person who enjoyed teasing his nieces and nephews and having fun with them. He also had a talent for wrapping presents in his own individual way.
A.J was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 22, 2012 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A Mass celebrating the life of A.J will be conducted at 10:30 am Saturday, June 23, 2012, at Holy Cross Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr J. Kenneth Rush officiating. Burial will follow at Briarwood Memorial Gardens, Amherst.
