Alvin Everett Fox, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2026, in Moneta, Virginia at the age of 96. Born on July 9, 1929, in Buena Vista, Virginia, Alvin lived a life with dedication to both his family and his profession. He was predeceased by his wife, Gloria Fox
A veteran of World War II, Alvin enlisted at the young age of 16, demonstrating a remarkable spirit of service and commitment during a pivotal time in history. After enlistment, Alvin found great success in the furniture industry, owning Colony Furniture Galleries, where he showcased his keen eye for quality and craftsmanship.
In addition to his professional endeavors, Alvin had diverse hobbies and interests. He was particularly passionate about woodworking and had an appreciation for fine craftsmanship. His love for the outdoors was evident through his enjoyment of fishing and camping. Alvin served as the president of the Virginia Winnebago Club, where he built friendships and shared his joy for travel. He accepted Christ in 1955 and was an active member of Diamond Hill Baptist Church.
Alvin is survived by his son, Michael Fox and his wife, Betty Lou, and his daughter, Debra Parrish and her husband, Russell. He was a devoted grandfather to Lindsey (Brad), Meredith, Neil, Mike (Kelly), and Tracy (Brian). Additionally, he was a proud great-grandfather to Liam, Addison, Kate, and Parker, who brought him immense joy in his later years.
A service will be held at Diamond Hill Baptist Church toward the end of March.
Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford, is assisting the family.
