Alliene Robbins Hooks, 96, formerly of Goldsboro, N.C., died February 26 in Lynchburg, Va. She had been a resident of Valley View Retirement Community in Lynchburg for the past 16 years and most recently of Heritage Green Assisted Living in Lynchburg.
Mrs. Hooks was born September 8, 1917, in Shannon, Miss., the daughter of the late Robert L. and Pearl West Robbins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles C. Hooks, Sr.; and three brothers, Dr. Cecil W. Robbins, Conrad L. Robbins and Burkett Robbins.
She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Catherine R. Hanstein of Denver, Colo., and two sons, Charles C. Hooks, Jr. and wife Peggy of Lynchburg, Va.; and David R. Hooks and wife Sherri of Simpsonville, S. C.; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Mrs. Hooks and her husband were long-time members of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Goldsboro.
Funeral services will be Friday, February 28, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Seymour Funeral Home, 1300 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, with the Rev. James H. Harry officiating. Interment will follow at Wayne Memorial Cemetery, Goldsboro. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm on Friday at Seymour Funeral Home.
